(NECN) - Asian stock markets were up overnight.
Japan's Nikkei index rose 5 %, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng is up 2%, mostly on revived hopes for a Bush administration bailout of US automakers.
Meanwhile, investors will be keeping another close eye on the latest Federal Reserve meeting, beginning Monday.
It's expected to announce Tuesday that it's cutting interest rates by a-half point to one-half percent, a move designed to help bring the country out of a recession.
