(NECN) - Stocks edged higher today moving just a fraction of a percent.

The Dow Jones industrial average closed at 8,183-- gaining nearly five points.

The Nasdaq composite finished at more than 1,752-- up slightly more than five.

The S-and-P 500 ended at more than 882-- climbing three.

Regionally -- Bloomberg’s New England index jumped almost half a point.

The New England tech stock index went up more than a quarter.
