(NECN) - Friday's turndown in the market helped wipe out several weeks of gains for the month of October.
The Dow and NASDAQ ended October virtually flat.

- Dow Jones Industrial Average closes at nearly 9,713 -- tumbles almost 250 points
- Blue Chips lost 2.5 percent on the week
- Dow unchanged for month of October
- NASDAQ Composite finished at 2,045 -- lost 52 points
- On the week, NASDAQ fell 5 percent
- Tech Heavy Index down 77 points for the month
- S&P 500 ends at 1,036 -- falls nearly 30 points
- Bloomberg's New England Index drops 7 points
- New England Tech Stock Index falls 2.25 points
