At 'Second Rotation' it pays to recycle gadgets

(Peter Howe, NECN: Waltham, MA) - There's always some new must have gadget hitting store shelves. But that raises the question, what do you do with your old electronics? A company in Waltham, Massachusetts will recycle your unwanted items and give you cash in return.

Every year in our country we throw out about 400 million electronic things. Old cell phones, cameras, ipods. It's not just a waste of money but there's some bad stuff in there you wouldn't want in a landfill or your water supply ... lead, cadmium, and other chemicals.

A new Waltham, Massachusetts company called Second Rotation that's started a business for people who want not just a safe way to throw out their old electronics ... but even get some money back too.

Just this week the company launched a new consumer website called gazelle.com. If you're offering something they want, they will send you a postage paid box to send it in to them, then once they've determined its reusable, they cut you a check.
