(NECN: Peter Howe, Boston, Mass.) - Could Boston become a leader in biotech? Three companies are moving their operations to the city with the assistance of Boston's LifeTech initiative. LifeTech Boston, launched by Mayor Menino in 2004 and managed by the Boston Redevelopment Authority, offers assistance and business tools to attract, maintain, support and enhance companies involved in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical devices and other related industries. Paratek Pharmaceuticals is setting up shop in South Boston. The city gave the company a $14 million tax exempt loan to build out its space in the marine industrial park. The city is also close to landing two more life sciences companies.
