(Katie Daly, NECN: Worcester, MA) - Tensions are escalating in the turf war between the city of Worcester and local street vendors. Cart owners are serving up plenty of opposition to a recent vote they say limits their potential.
For years Corey's famous hot dogs has been serving the lunchtime crowd outside Worcester City Hall.
But those who frequent side walk vendors may soon notice a change. The Worcester City council recently voted to crack down on the way vendors like Corey's Famous hot dogs run their business. The move by city officials requires food peddlers to get approval from all restaurants within 250 feet of their operation. The new requirement comes after some restaurants complained that portable eateries were taking away their business.
