| May 22, 2008 Energy costs rise, Northeast companies go green

(Peter Howe, NECN) - As energy costs rise, New England companies are finding, it pays to spend on conservation. In fact, the Northeast is leading the way when it comes to going green.
Over 400 people attended the Northeast Energy Efficiency Parterships Convention in Hartford, Conneticut Thursday.
Any day now, Massachusetts legislators should finally enact a major energy bill that Governor Patrick, House Speaker DiMasi and Senate President Therese Murray have all called a top priority.
One really revolutionary thing they all support is what energy nerds call East Cost Procurement. It would mean a hug change in how utilities to business.
Every possible way to save a kilowatt of electricity that costs less than generating a kilowatt of electricity, they would have to buy.
That could mean hundreds and hundreds of millions of new dollars pouring into energy efficiency.
