(Latoyia Edwards, NECN: Newton, Mass.) - A new USA Today poll shows 75 percent of Americans are now hunting for the cheapest gasoline before filling up at the local pump and six in ten drivers are carpooling. That same poll shows that the number of miles each American is driving daily, is at the lowest point in three decades.
Consumers wallets aren't the only thing taking a hit from rising prices, as families are now being forced to cancel summer trips to the beach and amusement parks.
According to the government's Energy Information Administration, gas demand is expected to shrink 0.4 percent by summer's end, making gas prices even higher.
NECN's Latoyia Edwards has more.
