| September 6, 2008 Passenger service returns to Worcester Regional Airport
|
(Katie Daly, NECN: Worcester, MA) - Worcester Regional Airport has been empty for awhile, but that could soon change. For the first time in two years, passenger service is back.
"Direct Air" will start offering flights to and from Florida. It's a big boost for the struggling airport. The flights are scheduled to begin in November. It is the first passenger service since 2006.
Passengers are already expressing their approval. They like that the airport is a shorter commute than Boston, and fares will be only $99 each way. The planes will have 8 first class seats, and 141 coach seats. Also there are color TVs and stereos at every seat as well as mood lighting.
