(NECN) - Receiving his welcome at Camp David, French President Nicolas Sarkozy thanked President Bush for his efforts to right the worldwide ship during this financial crisis.
Sarkozy delivered a message from the European Union upon his arrival.
"This is a worldwide crisis, therefore we must find a worldwide solution," Sarkozy said. "This answer will be all the more effective so far as we find it together, we speak in one in the same voice and we work together to build the capitalization of the future."
Sarkozy emphasized a need for the world's countries to refuse to give up hope of a turnaround.
"Thank you for using your term of office right up until the very end to help the world find the answers to a crisis that we must contain. We must not give way to fatalism."
