(Mark Sudol, NECN: Boston, Mass.) - Much of the $168 billion in stimulus money is expected to go directly from pockets to the pumps.
The high price of fuel is hitting Americans hard, especially for those like taxi drivers, who make a living on the roadways. The higher prices are forcing drivers to work extra hours. A typical driver now pays $1,000 more per month in gas than they did just two years ago.
John Ford who owns a Boston taxi service, says taxi drivers are the canary in a mine shaft. If they're business is suffering, the economy must be suffering.
As NECN's Mark Sudol reports.
