November 20, 2008 IKEA recalls blinds after strangulations Play video

(NECN) - The recall involves nearly 700,000 Ikea and Green Mountain Vista blinds and shades.

Ikea sold the blinds between July 2005 and June of this year.

The shades are insulated blackout roller shades and insulated roman shades.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission said a one year old Greenwich, Connecticut girl died when she got caught in the inner cord of a blind.

A two year old girl from Bristol was nearly strangled on the beaded-chain loop, but her older brother saved her.
