Newsnight: TV and unhealthy kids


(NECN) - Consider what some researchers are saying about the way we raise our kids.

"If you plop your kids down in front of the TV or the computer... It can change their brain development, it can make them fat, and it can lead them to get involved in risky sexual activity."

That’s the conclusion of the National Institute of Health after reviewing 173 studies on media and health conducted over the past three decades. 80 percent of the studies found that too much TV and other media can be bad for kids.

Psychologist Susan Linn of the Judge Baker children's center is the director of campaign for a commercial free childhood, and author of "The Case for Make-Believe."
