(NECN) - With the wind chill hovering around zero in suburban Milwaukee on Saturday, it was a perfect day to run a marathon -- providing it was indoors.
One hundred runners took part in what was billed as the world's largest indoor marathon at the Petit National Ice Center. Not only did they have to run 26.2 miles, they also had to fight boredom.
The running track that circles the ice sheet is not very big. To go the full marathon distance the runners had to go around the track a little more than 95 times.
The winner was Bryan Schneider of Stevens Point, Wisconsin with a time of 2 hours, 37 minutes and 2 seconds.
