Center helps families battling cancer

(NECN: Kenneth Craig, Worcester, Mass.) - Battling childhood cancer is tough, not only on the patient, but on the entire family as well. A center in Worcester provides support and love to families after they get the diagnosis.

From the outside, six-year-old Max Blasko seems like your average kid.

He's curious, agile, and likes to play around.

But Max is anything but average - he's been battling leukemia for the last 3 and half years - more than half his life fighting the cancer that chose him and not his identical twin brother Michael.

It is a parent's worst nightmare.

“Devastation doesn't even begin to explain what it's like. You don't want anyone you know to ever go through that.”

But days after then two-year-old Max was diagnosed, his family got some good news. They were invited to Why Me & Sherry's House.

It's a non-profit center in Worcester for children with cancer.

It's been helping those children and their families fight the disease by providing support and services.

Max and his family have been coming every week since that day. It's become their family.
