| November 8, 2009 Trial tests for new Malaria vaccine being held in Kenya
|
(NECN/ABC) - Malaria kills nearly a million people each year, and most of them are children living in sub-Saharan Africa.
But as ABC News Digital Reporter Dana Hughes reports from Saiya, Kenya there is a new vaccine that is being hailed as a major breakthrough for children under 5 years old.
Results won't be published until next year.
Then it will have to be approved by regulators in Europe and Africa.
But the real challenge, say medical experts, will be making sure that the distribution of the vaccine reaches those who need it the most.
