(NECN: Katie Daly, Worcester, Mass.) - Congressman Jim McGovern toured Worcester Polytechnic Institutes' Center for Neuroprosthetics Tuesday. Students there are working on developing technology that will advance prosthetic limbs. To help them with their research, McGovern announced that the center will be receiving 1.6 million dollars in federal funding. 30 researchers will work with students to eventually create prosthetic limbs that will be controlled by the body and nervous system. The new technology will allow injured service men and woman and the more than 2 million other amputees in the U.S. to lead more independent lives.
