(Josh McElveen, NECN: Boston, Mass.) - A Boston, Massachusetts man, says a doctor at Caritas Saint Elizabeth's Hospital, violated his rights by giving out personal information.
The man, aka John Doe, says he heard the Emergency Room doctor disclose his HIV positive diagnosis to his boss, who had driven him to the hospital.
Initially, the doctor denied the mistake, but later confessed that she had confused John Doe's boss with another doctor.
A lawsuit has been filed against St. Elizabeth's seeking unspecified damages. The plaintiff would also like to see a policy implemented to train the employees as to the sensitivity of medical records.
NECN's Josh McElveen has details.
