| July 30, 2008 Experimental drug shows promise against Alzheimer's disease

(NECN) - In this life sciences report, an experimental drug is generating some buzz at an Alzheimer's conference in Chicago.
The drug is being developed by a company in Singapore, it's called "rember" and shows promise for halting the progression of Alzheimer's disease by breaking up the protein tangles that clog patients brains.
That's a change from drugs currently on the market -- that can only treat the symptoms of Alzheimer's disease. And there are companies with significant New England ties showing promise with treatments of their own.
Market watch reporter val Kennedy has been following the conference closely.
