(NECN/ABC) - Twins born with a rare divergence of gene combinations, to produce shades of distinction, have been welcomed into the world.

The odds are one in a million. Leo and Ryan Gerth defied those odds when they were born on July 11th in Germany.

Leo has dark skin and curly hair, clearly inherited from his West African mother. Ryan, more closely resembles his German father.

No one at the Berlin Hospital had seen anything like it.
