(NECN: East Haddam, Conn.) - Ted Kennedy is being remembered fondly today by his longtime close friend and colleague Connecticut senator Chris Dodd. "It's a great loss of a great friend and a great advocate for people," said Dodd. "It's like losing a brother." "Life is not a dress rehearsal. You take every day and live it to the fullest and maximize your time here on earth," said Dodd. "I don't know of another friend who has been as empathetic as Teddy," said Dodd of the late Massachusetts Senator. Kennedy, 77, died Tuesday night after a yearlong struggle with brain cancer. "He could make you laugh at the moment when you thought you could least tolerate it," said the Democratic Senator. "What I'm really going to miss is that personal friendship. That's the hardest," said Dodd. "Never once did a see a phony bone in his body when it came to caring about people," said Dodd. Dodd is recovering from recent prostate cancer surgery.
