| January 7, 2009 Caught on tape: Large cats roam free
|
(NECN) - A neighborhood in Colorado Springs, Colorado has had some pretty wild visitors lately and at least one homeowner caught a "visitation" on camera.
Ed Cisco says he and his wife have been visited by a female bobcat and her two kittens recently. They took video of the wild cats hanging around in their
yard the weekend after Christmas. The Cisco's say the cats have been around quite a bit over the last few weeks.
On the visit they captured on video, one of the kittens caught a mouse and sat down on the steps on the deck to the home to enjoy its meal.
During this particular encounter, there was one point where the mother bobcat spotted Mr. Cisco in the window with the video camera and the cat stared at
him, keeping a close eye on his movements.
Officials with the Colorado Division of Wildlife say bobcats are fairly shy animals and will usually run off. Mike Seraphin says that didn't happen this time because the wild cats may not have noticed Cisco or considered him a threat.
Wildlife officers say bobcats are wild animals and while they usually run away from humans, if they feel threatened they can attack.
Bobcats are smaller than mountain lions, but bigger than a common house cat.
