(NECN: Jim Braude) - Did the killer of Doctor George Tiller act alone, or with the encouragement of others? Doctor Tiller's belief in offering abortion services to women was controversial. Some people couldn't reconcile it with his devotion to his faith and his church.
What part did overheated anti-abortion rhetoric play in the death of doctor George Tiller?
Just listen to these typical comments from Fox News host Bill O'Reilly , as compiled by the website http://www.dailykos.com.
I am not one of those liberals who generally feasts on the misdeeds of Bill O'Reilly, but tonight I will make an exception, actually two.
An E-mailer to my radio show today, Stacy, described her late-term abortion.
Following an ultrasound which showed her baby had only one of 3 parts of the brain and no skull
the doctor described the baby's condition as “incompatible with life"
Here’s what Stacy wrote: “An agonizing week later, filled with tears, second guessing, visits to our priest, conversations with family and my husband, we decided not continue with the pregnancy.
It is a decision, I will have to face my maker with and one I struggle with.”
That’s who Dr. Tiller's patients are. As for O'Reilly's ‘Tiller the baby killer’ comments, it is such irresponsible, over-the-top, inflammatory rhetoric which feeds sick minds like that of the man who killed Dr. Tiller.
Last night,
rather than express remorse, O'Reilly said “no backpedaling here”. And apparently no humanity either.
