(NECN/KABC: Lake View Terrace, CA) - A firefighter is still in the hospital after being exposed to cyanide.
Authorities say several firefighters developed respiratory problems earlier this week while working on the Station Fire burning above Los Angeles, California. Investigators determined the firefighters were exposed to cyanide gas.
A hazardous materials team cordoned off the area to investigate.
While fire crews continued to battle the massive wildfire, homicide investigators were pursuing leads into who started the fire.
Authorities say the fire was the result of arson, making the deaths of two firefighters last weekend a homicide case.
The Station Fire has burned over 154-thousand acres so far in Los Angeles County.
By Friday night the wildfire was 42% contained.
