| November 4, 2009 Ten bodies found at Ohio rapist's home; search continues
|
(NECN/ABC) - In Cleveland, Ohio, police said late Tuesday they now have as many as ten bodies -- discovered in the home of a convicted rapist. The suspect in the case is 50-year old Anthony Sowell. He is now facing five counts of aggravated murder, stemming from the shocking discovery this past weekend.
The Cuyahoga County coroner says at least six of the victims were African American women; five were strangled. All were in various stages of decomposition.
Families with missing loved ones have been asked to bring their dental records to police headquarters, in case they match those of the victims.
Jailed last weekend on unrelated rape and assault charges, Sowell served 15 years in prison for choking and raping a woman in 1989.
Some question why it took so long to search Sowell's property.
Police will continue their search for more evidence, and the possibility of more bodies, today.
ABC's Diana Alvear reports.
