| November 5, 2009 At least two gunmen suspected in Fort Hood shootings

(NECN/ABC News) In Killeen, Texas, near Waco, two - and possibly three - gunmen began shooting around 1:30pm near a barracks at Fort Hood. Some victims have
been taken to local hospitals ... others are being treated on the scene.
Early reports suggest all suspects are soldiers.
Officials report one gunman is in custody ... and police are pursuing one
and one was reported to be barricaded at the base following separate
shootings. Police traded fire with at least one of the gunmen.
FBI agents from Austin and Waco offices responding to the shooting. Military
police are taking the lead in the investigation.
The base, near Waco, is home to the 1st Cavalry Division, now deployed in Iraq. It is a city unto itself - home to 30,000 soldiers - a total
of 50,000, including their families. Army officials tell ABC News
commanders are tracking down all personnel to determine who is missing.
Base personnel were sent a note on the base website ... alerting them to the emergency and saying, "this is not a drill."
