Boy suffers major headache

(NECN/ABC) - Tyler Hemmert is a little sore, but will be just fine -- even though a butter knife went four or five inches into his scalp.

Patched up and proud, Tyler remembers it all.

"The kid that had the butter knife got mad about something."

The boy with the knife was playing in this dirt pile 15 feet from Tyler, who was sitting on this bench, when the knife was thrown. Tyler says his friend ducked out of the way, and Tyler was hit in the head.

Tyler took off running and knocked on this door for help -- Lorraine Wall answered.

"I was shocked," said Wall.

As she was calling for help, Tyler's dad showed up.

It was thumbs up at the hospital. The doctor snapped these pictures before pulling the knife out.

KATU reporter Nick Winkler has the story from Vancouver, Washington.
