(NECN/ABC) - With the price per barrel of crude oil climbing above $125, the national average now hovers around $3.72 per gallon of gas.
Congress did take action this week, both the House and Senate voting to stop adding to the strategic petroleum reserve -- against the White House's wishes.
But, drivers won't feel the effects of this move for a while, which explains why cars in Connecticut were lined up for more than a mile. They were waiting to fill up on 99 cent gas, part of a radio promotion.
Others are turning to hybrids.
Nest week, the Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing with the heads of all the major oil companies to determine why prices are so high and what can be done about them.
