(NECN: Cary, North Carolina) - Cary, North Carolina Police Chief Pat Bazemore says homicide investigators are making progress in the case of a slain jogger. The chief made her latest assessment Friday in what she said will be her last media briefing until an arrest is made.
Brad Cooper told police he last saw his wife alive when she left their Cary home to go running Saturday morning. Nancy Cooper's body was found in a neighborhood about three miles from their house Monday night.
Cooper's family attended today's briefing. They say a psychologist with whom Nancy Cooper worked is helping them explain the situation to the couple's young children. Nancy Cooper's parents and sister successfully petitioned a North Carolina court to gain temporary custody of those children.
Although police say Brad Cooper isn't a suspect at this time, he has moved out of the home he shared with his late wife and is said to be living with friends.
