July 17, 2008 Pyrotechnics company goes up in flames Play video

(NECN: Lexington, Kentucky) - A fire at a pyrotechnics company prompted an evacuation of a section of downtown Lexington, Kentucky Thursday.

The blaze broke out about 10:00 a.m. at Star Light and Magic Company, a facility that houses special effects used by magicians. Because of the hazardous and flammable materials on site, several blocks were evacuated.

Firefighters were pulled out of the building to fight the fire from the outside because of the possibility of dangerous explosions.

There are no reports of serious injuries. It is not yet known what caused the fire.
