(NECN/ABC) - The Seattle zoo has a new addition to the family. She's a 2-year-old snow leopard from an Idaho zoo, who traveled a long distance to meet a certain gentleman snow leopard named Tom. She's about to undergo her first full physical since arriving at Woodland Park.
Dr. John Ochsenreiter: Being a young cat, we don't expect to find much wrong. But, it's good to have something to compare to later on.
Dr. John Ochsenreiter: This is the stomach here, here's the colon here with feces in it. It's so bright because there's bone in there.
Nothing to worry about.
The doctor checks her eyes -- all healthy. Her teeth and gums are all good, too.
But, after checking her ears,
Dr. John Ochsenreiter: We discovered she may have an ear infection. So we're going to check that out.
This new snow leopard will stay in the zoo's hospital in quarantine for a total of 30 days. So she has a couple of more weeks to go. Then, she'll be brought here to her new home where she'll join two other snow leopards. A 14 year old female and this 2 year old male who's originally from the Los Angeles Zoo.
His name is Tom and at some point, they hope to have him breed with the new leopard.
Reporter Robert Santos of KOMO Seattle has the story.
