(NECN/ABC) - Eight teenagers from Tampa, Florida have been charged after the brutal beating of a 16-year-old girl last Month. The attack was caught on videotape, with the idea, according to police, of posting it on YouTube.
Sheriff's officials have asked prosecutors to charge them all as adults.
Police say the girl in the pink sweatpants was the ringleader in the attack on 16 year-old Victoria Lindsay. Five other teen girls also joined in, while two young males allegedly stood outside and watched.
The victim was lured to the home of a friend in Polk County, Florida when she was attacked by the six girls, March 30th.
Authorities say the plan, all along, was to videotape the brutal beating and post it on You Tube, making the participants famous. Victoria was hit in the face numerous time before her head was slammed into a wall, knocking her unconscious.
Patrick Lindsay, father of victim: "I didn't recognize my own daughter when I went in. She was disfigured."
The teenaged victim also suffered damage to her left eye and ear.
The mother of one of the teenagers charged in the incident is blaming the victim, claiming she had been threatening and insulting the girls on another social networking Web site prior to the alleged beating.
