TAUNTON, Mass. (AP) - State police say one person has died and
four others were injured in a crash on Route 24 in Taunton.
A car with four occupants swerved to avoid an animal in the
road, struck a guardrail and came to rest on its roof in the left
lane of Route 24 South about 2:15 a.m. Tuesday.
Police say the car was then struck by a pickup truck.
A woman passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The male
driver and another woman passenger were taken by helicopter to
Massachusetts General Hospital. A male passenger and the driver of
the pickup were taken to Morton Hospital in Taunton.
The highway was shut down for about 30 minutes.
The crash remains under investigation.
