| November 21, 2008 Menino on Turner: This puts 'cloud over government'

(NECN: Boston, Mass.) - "This always puts a cloud over government," Boston Mayor Tom Menino said in reaction to the arrest of Boston City Councilor Chuck Turner.
"Incidents like this will always get people suspect of government and that's very unfortunate," said Menino.
Turner was arrested by the FBI this morning for allegedly taking a $1,000 bribe from a person he believed was a businessman, then lying to FBI agents.
U.S. Attorney Michael Sullivan says Turner was videotaped taking the money from an agent posing to be a businessman seeking to obtain a liquor license for a proposed nightclub in Boston's Roxbury neighborhood.
Last month, former state Sen. Dianne Wilkerson was arrested for allegedly taking $23,500 in bribes from undercover agents, one of whom posed as a businessman wanting the liquor license. She has resigned.
