January 3, 2009 59 year old Middleboro, MA man rescued after falling through ice

(NECN) - Middleboro, Massachusetts Fire Department is confirming that a 59 year old man fell through the ice on Tispaquin Pond off Faye Avenue.

The man went out to go ice skating on Saturday morning and about an hour later his wife went looking for him.

She called the the fire department and upon arriving on the scene located the victim about 60 feet off shore.

Two firefighters in ice-rescue suits went tin the pond to make the rescue.

The victim has been transported to Tobey Hospital with serious injuries.

Both firefighters were also transported to the hospital as a precaution.
