(Greg Wayland, NECN: Quincy, MA) - Family, friends and members of the Boston Fire Department are gathering to remember Lieutenant Kevin Kelley. He was killed last week when his fire truck crashed into a building, while returning from a call. Brake failure may be to blame. A wake is being held in Kelley's hometown of Quincy.
Kelley's career in the Boston Fire Department spanned 30 years, and included heroic rescues. His daughter Susan says he joined the force because his father was also a firefighter.
Thousands of firefighters from across the country are expected to attend Kelley's funeral Wednesday morning.
