Body Found in Charles River

Police can't say if the death might be suspicious

A body was found on Thursday morning in the Charles River, according to Massachusetts State Police.

Around 8:15 a.m., a passerby notified state police that they had seen a body on the Cambridge side of the river near the Longfellow Bridge. The body is that of an adult, police say, but the gender is unknown at this time. It appears to have been submerged for an extended period of time.

A state police marine unit is currently working to recover the body, and the Middlesex District Attorney's Office is on its way to the scene to assist with the death investigation.

Because of the condition of the body, state police cannot say at this time if the death might be suspicious or not.
