Harvard halts plans to build in Allston

Feb 26, 2009
(NECN: Boston, Mass.) - Harvard University says it is committed to helping refurbish Boston's Allston neighborhood. Last week, Harvard announced it was slowing its building of a $1 billion science complex across the Charles River, and halting many other plans. Click here to learn more about the story. Many Allston residents are angry because Harvard owns 350 acres of land in the neighborhood. Yesterday, Harvard's president told the Boston Globe that the university is committed to renting out or sprucing up its vacant lots and buildings. Boston Globe Deputy City Editor Mike Bello joins NECN for a discussion.
