(Katie Daly, NECN: Worcester, Mass.) - While many college students may be planning a warm getaway for spring break, others are answering a call for action.
Some Holy Cross students will be using their time to help those in need.
Maria de la Montte along with 15 other students from Holy Cross are getting ready to attend Power Shift 2009. It’s an event held by thousands of college students at the nations capital. The goal is to ask leaders to take action on environmental issues.
Ally Lincoln will be traveling with another group from Holy Cross to New Orleans. They won’t be gambling in casinos or visiting the French Quarter. They will be rebuilding neighborhoods devastated by Hurricane Katrina.
This year 266 students will travel to 15 locations across the nation. They will be trying to make a difference but in the process are likely to be impacted by the experience.
