(NECN: Kenneth Craig) - The growing season in over for a Worcester County landmark. Shrewsbury Nurseries was founded in 1947, and is well known to generations of families in Central Massachusetts.

Closing the nursery 62 years after it opened was a hard decision for the Lebeaux family. They say it is a sign of the times, an influx of large home improvement chains combined with a recession and high operation costs are making it hard to stay profitable. The property has been assessed at over $1.3 million and will be sold after the nursery closes.
