May 19, 2009 Friend of Harvard victim says he was 'good kid' Play video

(NECN: Cambridge, Mass.) - A 21-year-old man shot on the Harvard University campus yesterday has died.

As police search for several people believed to be involved in the shooting, we are learning more about the victim, who was not a student at the university.

Prosecutors say Justin Cosby of Cambridge, Massachusetts, a Salem State College student, died early today.

His mother tells The Boston Globe she doesn't know why her son was on Harvard's campus.

A friend of Cosby, Steven Silva, describes Cosby as "a good kid" who was "close with his father."

Silva says he used to play basketball with Cosby and go to his house to play video games.

Silva says as far as he knows, Cosby never had any problems with drugs -- and he had a good job.
