(NECN) - Earlier this week, the Massachusetts legislature voted in favor of an increase in the state sales tax. While critics argue it may hurt local businesses, supporters say it will help maintain social services, like those designed to help the poor and homeless.
Dr. Donna Haig Friedman, joins NECN on this segment of Affairs of State to discuss these services. Dr. Friedman is the Director of the Center for Social Policy at the McCormack School at UMass Boston.
