SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (AP) - Two students at the University of
Rhode Island and a third person have been indicted on charges of
first-degree sexual assault.
The attorney general's office says the alleged assault on a
female student occurred in September on the school's South
Kingstown campus.
The two student suspects were identified Wednesday as
20-year-old Yaw Peprah of Lincoln and 19-year-old Estifanos Gizaw
of Houston, Texas. The third person accused in the case is
18-year-old Marina Melillo of North Bellmore, N.Y.
A woman who answered the phone at Peprah's home had no comment.
A man who identified himself as Melilo's father declined to
comment. And the phone rang unanswered at Gizaw's home in Texas.
URI spokesman Dave Lavallee said he could not comment on what
disciplinary actions, if any, the students face.
