| June 5, 2009 Man turns town's water tower into memorial
|
(NECN: Jennifer Eagan, Dudley, Mass.) - A sight for sore eyes is now something to look at. Tired of looking at an old water tower from his home, one man turned it into canvas, and a tribute to World War Two veterans.
When Howard Flexor moved to Dudley, Massachusetts two years ago. He settled on a beautiful home, with a great view. The only problem was the house sits directly across the street from the town's water tower.
Howard, a Vietnam veteran who lost his leg in a motorcycle accident, went to the Dudley Water Department and asked their permission to paint a special message on the tower. Howard hired a company to paint the tower, all out of his own pocket.
He just wanted to make sure that all veterans knew they were not forgotten.
