July 2, 2009 Police search for "thank you" robber in Mass. Play video

(NECN: Katie Daly, West Boylston, Mass.) – West Boylston Police are looking for a thief they've dubbed the "thank-you" robber.

They say the man has hit the same Shell gas station several times in the past week. He demands cash and cigarettes, and says, thank-you as he heads for the door.

Police believe the man in this surveillance video and an accomplice robbed the Shell gas station in West Boylston twice in the past week.

“He came in, a young male white 22 to 26 years of age with a bandana covering his face demanding cash and cigarettes.”

But this isn’t your average robber. After demanding money from the cashier, he actually stops to say thank you.

“Not only is it his M.O. but it makes us feel, its offensive to us to be honest its offensive.”

The store manager is offering a $1,000 dollar reward for anyone who can provide the police with information.

Both robberies took place in the early morning around 3 am.
