July 5, 2009 Elderly woman hit by car in Chatham, MA

(NECN: Chatham, MA) - An elderly woman is in serious condition.

She was hit by a car following the July 4th parade in Chatham, Massachusetts.

The 81-year-old was found underneath the SUV that backed into her Saturday.

She was brought to a Boston hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police have not yet released the names of the driver or the victim.

The accident is under investigation.
