LYNN, Mass. (AP) - Three police officers were among seven people
injured in a two-alarm house fire in Lynn.
Police Lt. William Sharpe tells The Daily Item that five people
were found inside the home after police arrived at the scene at
about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday and found the house completely engulfed.
They rushed into the house to rescue five frantic residents and
were taken to a local hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.
Four of the people found inside the house also were hospitalized.
One resident, a 57-year-old man, was trapped under debris and
was taken to a Boston hospital in critical condition. The others
are not thought to have life-threatening injuries.
The state Fire Marshal is investigating but there was no
immediate word on the cause.
