November 10, 2009 Amber Alert issued for 2-year-old girl in Maine Play video

(NECN: Sanford, Maine) - An Amber Alert has been issued for a two-year-old girl in Sanford, Maine.

Sanford police and Maine State Police say her father took the girl after an assault on the girl's mother that happened this morning.

Police are looking for 38-year-old Gary Traynham and the two-year-old girl Hailey.

The pair disappeared from Sanford about 11:15 this morning. Police believe they may be in the lakes region of New Hampshire.

Police say Traynham is driving a 1998 Dodge 1500 pickup truck with Maine plates 8629-NB.

Traynham is described as 5'11", 230 pounds with balding brown hair, hazel eyes and a dark goatee.

The girl has shoulder length blond hair, blue eyes and weighs between 35 and 50 pounds.
