(NECN) - In Worcester, Massachusetts, it was a chance to say thank you to hundreds of National Guard troops.
Senator John Kerry welcomed home 600 members of the 181st Infantry Regiment.
Half of them served in Iraq.
Many of the troops have been home for months, and say they are just glad to be back.
The 181st is the oldest Infantry Regiment in the U.S. Army.
