9/11 widow christens USS New Hampshire

(NECN/WTNH) - the Navy's newest attack submarine is now ready for action. The USS New Hampshire was christened Saturday in Groton, Connecticut. Among those in attending the ceremony, the widow of a pilot who was killed on 9/11.

Cheryl McGuinness, of Portsmouth, told the ship's crew they are her heroes. Her husband, Thomas McGuinness, was co-pilot of American Airlines Flight 11, which was flown into the World Trade Center's North Tower.

The Navy says the crew of the boat will be about 134 sailors, and is an example of efficiencies in technology and budget advances.

The sub is scheduled to be delivered to the Navy in October.

WTNH's Marc Robbins has more.
